With so much going on in Afghanistan, it is easy to forget that the Taliban are also operating in Pakistan, and today comes the news that a suicide bomber has caused the death of at least 18 Pakistani officers, in a sign that despite the plans of the government to eliminate the extremists, they are [...]

    • Dick Cheney Speaks Again
      August 30, 2009 | 8:55 am

Continuing his trend of staying in the news, former Vice President Dick Cheney condemns the Obama Administration’s investigation of the tactics used by the CIA for interrogation, calling it a political move.

I don’t think maligning the CIA will help us in any way. I feel that the the government going after
      this intelligence group is [...]

    • Leniency For Albert Gonzalez
      August 30, 2009 | 8:35 am

I suppose you can call this justice, for today comes the news that Albert Gonzalez, the man responsible for the largest identity theft crime in the history of the United States, has agreed to plead guilty to 19 felony counts and will serve 15 to 25 years in prison.

I know the government is pleased to [...]

    • More Death
      August 30, 2009 | 8:13 am

Death finds its way onto the news once more, and this time seven people have been found dead in a mobile home in Georgia.

I am never surprised because, honestly, every day I expect to hear or read of these kinds of news
stories. Evil is alive and well in America every single day. Despite [...]

There is a storm of support for LeRoy Carhart, a man who performs late-term abortions, and, of course, there are those who despise him, as his clinic stays open. The controversy over abortion continues without end in site.

I think the fight of doctors like LeRoy Carhart is an important one, for we cannot allow [...]

According to the court, what the government did when they took the drug test results of professional baseball players was an illegal action.

I don’t think this case should have even been heard. I don’t think cheaters should have any kind of
protection in this country. If you brake the law, you lose your [...]

Now that we know the details, it is easy to criticize the actions of the CIA during the George W. Bush administration, and for that matter, after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. • How The U.S. Government Assists Drug Cartels
      August 25, 2009 | 9:08 pm

It is interesting too see that despite the idea that in this country we are so modernized, advanced, and civilized, a country such as Argentina is way ahead of us when it comes to the legalization of Marijuana. They have made the right choice by declaring it unconstitutional to ban its use.  If you watch [...]

Conrad Murray: Witch Hunt

Posted by Alexander Marquez on July 28, 2009

As I read about the doctor who was with Michael Jackson when he died and about how police are slowly building a manslaughter case against him, I can’t help but think that this is looking like a witch hunt to me. I mean, they seem so desperately intent on finding a killer that they fail to forget that Michael Jackson was an adult and that because of that we have to hold him responsible for his own choices.

He’s not some kid who a doctor administered a medication without his knowledge or consent. Sure, the Doctor is guilty of being unethical, but he was obviously being pressured by Michael Jackson to do as he was being told. It is clear the pop icon would have found a doctor who complied with his demands no matter what. Let’s hold the doctor accountable by suspending his license for at least 10 years and let’s give him two years in prison for violating the ethics of doctor.

This, of course, is under the presumption that he is in fact guilty. More than two years in prison would be an injustice. I have a real issue with district attorneys and law enforcement always trying to find someone responsible for a death. I understand that’s their job, but in some of these cases the major culprit was the adult who died for making stupid decisions. Michael Jackson wanted these drugs based or reports and we should hold him accountable for these wrong choices.

I equate it to me crossing the street with no crosswalk without looking both ways, only to be hit by someone who has consumed a couple of alcoholic beverages. If he kills me, I don’t want that person to be held accountable because I was the idiot who decided to cross where I shouldn’t have crossed and without looking both ways. Enough of this nonsense.
