Is Sarah Palin Our Next President?
Posted by Alexander Marquez on July 28, 2009So, Sarah Palin is leaving office and we are now left here to find answers as to why she is taking such a bold step that at face value looks like she is throwing her political future away and forgetting how bright this future once appeared. Yet, what we might forget is that perhaps this is her strategy all along and that she is well aware that through controversy she is actually becoming more popular. I don’t know what the results might be, but the game she is playing has the potential to be a dangerous one, for what might transpire could be the complete opposite of what she has in mind.
I’m sure in her mind she believes that she has what it takes to challenge the political supremacy of Barack Obama, for perhaps there is the current perception that he is currently weakened by the state of the economy and the belief that he has so far failed in his goal of effectively reaching out to the world and finding a connection with nations that have always been our enemies. Yet, I seriously believe that those underestimating Barack Obama are making a serious mistake, for when they least expect it, this mess we are facing will turn around, and with that, the tide will emphatically turn in Barack Obama’s favor.
Are we really discussing that the same person who looked so foolish in the last election is all of a sudden going to become much brighter? Maybe she has taken the time to improve on her weaknesses, but I still believe she faces serious obstacles when it comes to becoming a worthy adversary to President Obama. We will also have to wait how Sarah Palin’s ethical issues will pan out, for any scandal resulting from her resignation as Governor might permanently derail any hope she might have had of being our next President.
Nevertheless, I have to admit that Sarah Palin is very intriguing in a party that, honestly, currently possesses very few interesting characters, and that through pure entertainment value, has the potential to get a lot of votes from those uninformed voters who typically infiltrate the voting booths in every election. This a country that many times seems to reward celebrity over real, relevant issues.
