The Seeds Of Peace

Posted by Alexander Marquez on October 10, 2009

Turkey and Armenia are at the doorstep of peace, ready to sign a peace agreement in a surprising move for these bitter enemies, who for many years have been separated by their marked differences and their bloody past.

Sure, there has been a slight delay, but one minor delay cannot change the fact that this peace

agreement is a stunning development when you consider the long history that has divided these

former enemies. Whether or not the claims made against one another have been totally true is

irrelevant now because a hero has emerged and peace is moments away. Perhaps this is an

indication that true change is possible in the world after all, and that not all hope should be lost

when it comes to uniting former enemies, and in this case I am calling out to Palestine and Israel,

two states who refuse to settle their differences. We have to awaken from our dream states and

realize that we are all one family, as naive as that sounds, and we must move forward and think

about the well being of the entire world, because, after all, our pride and our nationalism will

mean nothing when this planet becomes extinct because of our ignorant actions.

Millions Don’t Buy Grace

Posted by Alexander Marquez on

A little girl was hurt by the actions of a very talented athlete. She was robbed of a memory. The memory was a home run ball, and in this case, more specifically, Ryan Howard’s 200th home run, making him the fastest to reach this milestone.

It is understandable that this ball would have such a strong sentimental value to Ryan Howard, but

what is not understandable or defendable is taking the ball away from a little girl after she has

legally come into possession of it. The Phillies in my opinion did in fact act criminally, and due to

the great efforts of an attorney, as maligned as they often are, the girl was able to recover the ball.

Whether they like it or not, millionaire athletes are huge role models for many kids, and perhaps

it’s time they act like ones. Perhaps this will serve as a powerful reminder to other athletes that

next time they have an opportunity to touch someone with their fame they should embrace it

instead of clearly blowing it. You make millions because of your talent, and all we poor individuals

seek is a little recognition, for after all, in a way our admiration makes your dream possible.

Family Ties

Posted by Alexander Marquez on September 26, 2009

North Koreans and South Koreans are extremely excited that after a long wait, they will finally get a chance to meet. Families have been torn apart ever since the end of the Korean War, divided by strict borders.

It is certainly sad that war can bring forth such division, forcing families to be apart despite the

bond they hold. I am pleased that the two sides decided to put their political interests aside for at

least a few moments, allowing so many families to see their loved ones once again. The Korean

War accomplished very little, other than plenty of bloodshed, and the result has been that a

resolution between these two sides is very unrealistic. Nationalism is the destroyer of the human

connection, preventing us from realizing that in reality we are all one big human family. As naive

as that sentence sounded, I am merely reflecting on how we as humans beings are incapable of

accepting our differences, choosing instead to kill one another and shower our neighbors with

constant doses of hate. This reunion is great, but it doesn’t eliminate the cold reality that after

such reunions, nothing will have changed, and the two Koreas will remain the twin brothers that

never learned to love one another as they should have.

Obama A War Criminal?

Posted by Alexander Marquez on

There is a report that civilian casualties have risen to alarming rates in the Afghanistan war. It turns out, this past month of August was the worst to date.

George W. Bush was viciously criticized for civilian casualties, so perhaps it’s time to question the

Obama administration on this matter. After all, the press is here to keep the government honest.

In this blog, I will not blindly defend any political party. I stop short of condemning President

Barack Obama simply because of lack of details on this issue. However, I do invite the reader to

not give any political figure a free pass. If civilians are dying because of military ineptitude, then a

major part of the responsibility must fall on the president. Sure, civilian casualties are a part of

war, but they must be limited, and attacks cannot be carried out indiscriminately with complete

disregard for innocent civilians. This is not how a good war is fought. Let’s proceed to destroy the

Taliban, using all means necessary, but let’s also protect those who only seek to be free inside a

country that has been repressed for far too long. Calling President Obama a war criminal is

irresponsible, but questioning his tactics is certainly fair.

The Beginning Of The End

Posted by Alexander Marquez on

Iran is leading us to believe that they have nothing to hide, proceeding to inform the U.N. that their nuclear inspectors can perform an inspection on one of their uranium enrichment plants.

Despite these developments, the world cannot be at ease as long as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in

power, for he has continuously shown that when he attempts to be diplomatic, these are only mere

examples of political sarcasm of the highest order. We must accept and inspect, but not to clear

Iran, but to show them that we are determined to continue the pressure on them. Ahmadinejad is

not fooling me, and he will certainly not fool the world, and we know that an Ahmadinejad with

nuclear power is no longer a mere political cartoon, but a terrifying credible threat. Nuclear

weapons in his hands will lead to the next World War, and this will subsequently lead to a chain

of world events too horrifying to even imagine. Let’s not wait for this to occur, being pro-active as

we seek a safer world, free from the monsters who seek to bring an end to this world. Democracy

is the way of the future, and repressive dictators will only set us back.

Help Me Catch A Killer

Posted by Alexander Marquez on September 19, 2009

A killer is on the loose in Washington State, free after escaping during a field trip to a fair he was allowed to take. The mental institution failed to keep their eyes on him, and the insane man eluded the attempts of police to capture him.

Certainly, this is perfect example of ineptitude, and the problem is that there is not much funny in

the fact that he was able to escape. The purpose of law enforcement is to protect society from

those who choose to violate the rules of life, taking innocent souls, and ripping them from

existence. However, here they failed, and failure cannot be accepted, but must be continuously

condemned and pointed out for all to see. Sure, he might already be in custody by the time you

read this, but that is not the point, for by the time he is captured maybe an innocent victim will

have payed the price of incompetence, and this is a terrible shame. So, helpless we shall stand,

waiting for his capture, and that capture can’t come soon enough for those of us who want the law

to prevail. It is time to put a killer in his place once and for all.

The U.S Has The Best Schools In The World

Posted by Alexander Marquez on September 15, 2009

A student was killed at a Florida high school. Apparently he was stabbed to death by another student from the school.

A story like this one is a cold reminder that, despite our concentration on foreign affairs, there is

still a great problem going unresolved here in our own country, and that is the violence that still

plagues many of our schools. Not that this is rampant, but children all over this country are forced

to attend unsafe schools, perhaps a contributing factor to why our educational system is in the

toilet. President Barack Obama decides to give a speech to students and he is attacked for it,

putting into perspective why we have a problem, for political pundits believe it is more important

to defend weak political agendas as opposed to making an attempt to correct our educational

system. When politicians stop being so out of touch, perhaps then we will make true progress. We

cannot eradicate incidents of school violence completely, but we can begin by telling Congress to

get their heads straight and do something to protect children and their future. But no, it will not

happen as long as we have two political parties and the rest of us follow them blindly like children

following a street parade.

A Strike To The Heart Of Al Qaeda

Posted by Alexander Marquez on

Saleh ali Saleh Nabhan, a prominent member of terrorist network al Qaeda, is dead after a U.S. strike in Somalia.

In the midst of so many stories of death that cloud the news, this is a welcome story of death, for

with the passing of this individual, justice has been served. His hands were covered in blood

because of all those innocent victims he claimed with his vicious terrorist acts, and now, the souls

of the fallen ones can rest, having not been forgotten by a government that has shown a

continuous commitment to fight terror around the world. From one corner of the Earth to the

other, al Qaeda is on the run, surrounded by agents of justice, and they can only run so much, for

little by little, one terrorist operative’s death at a time, we will claim victory. They have not

attacked U.S. soil since that fateful day of September 11,2001, and Osama Bin Laden is a ghost,

forced to reside inside isolated caves, surrounded by blind supporters, but even if we fail to kill

him, which we should, bomb after bomb will continue to fall over those who participate in his

doomed organization.

Chew On This Feminists

Posted by Alexander Marquez on September 12, 2009

Four women must stand trial for their alleged attack on a man which resulted in his penis being super-glued to his stomach. This happened in retaliation for him cheating on his wife with various other women, which led to the wife and the women allegedly attacking him in a motel.

Some will find this hilarious, of course, and might even feel some kind of deranged sympathy for

these women. However, as a man, I am fed up with the justice system, and their pathetic handling

of women when they commit crimes. It has gotten so bad that I expect a very minor punishment

for these women. The feminists out there who see some kind of divine justice in this crime are

nothing more than blind human beings who are consumed by their hatred towards men. I am

denouncing this and I am calling out to the court rooms all over this country. If you fail once more

in punishing these women like you would a man, then you will fail this country once more.

What Is This, The Wild West?

Posted by Alexander Marquez on

An anti-abortion protester and another man have been killed in front of a high school in Owosso, Michigan, this happening as the man was waging a protest decrying abortion.

I have written about this issue when it happens from the other perspective, and by this I mean

when a religious fanatic murders a doctor that performs abortion or anyone else supporting

abortion, using such examples to criticize religion and its effects on the human mind. However, to

be fair, this act has nothing to do with religion, but instead, has everything to do with the craziness

of the human mind, and perhaps the evilness of it, because this man did not deserve to die. It is

getting sickening that disturbed individuals are driven by murder to get their point across, and

their point becomes invalid the moment they decide to pull the trigger. Let’s discuss abortion and

lets support it or denounce it, but let’s stop killing each other. The issue is not worth murder, no

matter how passionate you are on this matter. I am making a call out to all who feel moved by this

issue to put their weapons away and stop the bloodshed.

Execution Is Moments Away

Posted by Alexander Marquez on

John Allen Muhammad, better known as the D.C. sniper, having horrified the Washington area community with a sniper rampage that, in the end, left 10 innocent victims dead, has decided to appeal his death sentence, having changed his mind after instructing his attorneys to drop all appeals.

It is amazing how quickly a killer can change his mind when faced with the possibility of his own

death. At first glance, the human mind can’t help but feel that the death penalty is wrong, and

inhumane if you want to call it that. But then you remember the unforgivable actions that left 10

innocent people dead, and you are forced to re-consider your position, because it begins to feel so

right to execute a vicious monster of this caliber. John Allen Muhammad is no innocent man, and

because he is as guilty as Adolph Hitler of mass murder, he must pay the ultimate price, and no

appeal process will save him. He decided that he would treat human lives as deer that could be

hunted for amusement and, therefore, we will now kill him for our own amusement. Sorry

Muhammad, but it is the law of the land which has come back to haunt you.

Hugo Chavez Is Insane

Posted by Alexander Marquez on

So, it has come to this. Hugo Chavez has decided that the best course of action is to purchase weapons from Russia. Congratulations, Hugo Chavez.

I understand business is business, but, is this really the way for Russia to ease tensions with the

United States? The way I see it, this brings back bitter memories of the Cold War, for Russia has

clearly decided that dealing with a madman is an acceptable practice. Sure, some might argue that

Venezuela has every right to obtain whatever weapons it pleases, but, overall, I cannot shed the

notion that Venezuela is becoming a political circus, and, no matter how entertaining the clown in

this circus is, the act begins to get a bit old. Also, this is another indication of what oil can do to us,

because in the hands of a delusional leader, it has the potential to turn into a powerful card to

utilize against us. Today, Chavez is sending out a warning to the rest of us that he will attack if

threatened, but in reality, he is only quenching his paranoid thirst. Here’s the news for Mr.

Chavez: no one cares about your little nation that could. We will not attack you. We have bigger

fish to fry.

Where Is Melisa Brady Sloan?

Posted by Alexander Marquez on September 7, 2009

I am obsessed with the news, and this is what drives me to write, and I am moved by those who have gone missing and who seem to get forgotten with the passage of time. Well, in this blog they will never be forgotten. So this is my tribute to Melisa Brady Sloan, who has been missing for 15 years now, because there are still loved ones mourning her disappearance while they wait for answers. We must not forget her, because like her, there are many more, for they have become ghosts of society, crying out to us for a release that doesn’t arrive soon enough.

I can do nothing more than to praise police for not giving up on cases like Melisa’s, for there is

solid suspicion that her husband is a direct link to her disappearance. He has a new life, with a wife

and family, but this doesn’t mean he will escape justice if we was responsible for Melisa Brady

Sloan’s vanishing, because justice is a like an expert marathon runner, not stopping until it has

reached the finish line, which in this case, is the truth of what happened to an innocent woman.

Let’s not forget the missing, for if we do, we will forget ourselves.

How To Annihilate Hate

Posted by Alexander Marquez on

Here’s a reality: hate is alive and well in the streets of America, consuming our youth and destroying the values we hold, and in the process, reminding us of why the issue of racism still matters. This is what Brian Milligan Sr. certainly believes, on the eve of his son being brutally beaten in Buffalo, New York by a group of black men, for you see, his son is white and is dating a black woman.

This case brings up the issue of reverse racism that exists and which is constantly ignored. It is

possible and happens frequently. Whites have also been victimized because racism is not limited

to a certain skin color, but rather, it is a condition of the corrupt human soul. Brian Milligan Jr.

was viciously beaten, yet he is more than just an isolated victim, for he represents and

symbolizes the victimization that results when the seeds of hate are allowed to sprout. Those of us

who vehemently oppose these kinds of actions must form one powerful wave of outrage and our

voices must resonate to the most distant corners of the Earth, decrying racism in all forms. Martin

Luther King Jr. will approve and we will be righteous at last.
